রেলে ভ্রমণ শুধু এক স্থান থেকে আরেক স্থানে যাতায়াত নয়; এটি জানালার বাইরে জীবনের, প্রকৃতির এবং সংস্কৃতির এক অপূর্ব প্রকাশ প্রত্যক্ষ করার সুযোগ। গত শরতে আমি ঢাকা থেকে সিলেট পর্যন্ত ট্রেনে ভ্রমণ করি শাহজালাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে একটি সাহিত্য সেমিনারে যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য। প্রকৃতির সৌন্দর্য ও নীরব চিন্তার মুহূর্তে ভরা এই যাত্রা আমার মনে গভীর ছাপ ফেলেছে।
আমি যাত্রার এক সপ্তাহ আগে অনলাইনে টিকিট কেটে রাখি। যাত্রার দিনে ভোরের আগেই কমলাপুর রেলস্টেশনে পৌঁছাই। তখনই স্টেশন প্রাণবন্ত—কুলি তাড়াহুড়ো করে মালপত্র বহন করছে, ফেরিওয়ালারা চা, পরোটা ও পত্রিকা বিক্রির জন্য ডাকছে, আর যাত্রীরা আনন্দে আলাপ করছে। শীতল হাওয়ায় গরম চা ও ভাজা নাস্তার গন্ধ ভেসে এসে সকালটিকে আরও উষ্ণ করে তুলেছিল।
ট্রেন আসার পর আমি দ্রুত উঠে জানালার পাশে বসি। তীক্ষ্ণ সিটি ও ধীরে টান দিয়ে ট্রেন চলতে শুরু করল। শহরের কংক্রিটের বন ধীরে ধীরে মিলিয়ে যেতে থাকল, আর বাইরের দৃশ্যপট বদলে গেল—সবুজ ধানক্ষেত, সকালের সূর্যের আলোয় ঝলমল করা শান্ত নদী, আর ঘুম ভাঙা ছোট ছোট গ্রাম। কৃষকরা মাঠে কাজ করছে, জেলেরা স্বচ্ছ জলে জাল ফেলছে, আর শিশুরা হাত নেড়ে অভিবাদন জানাচ্ছে।
সবচেয়ে মনোমুগ্ধকর মুহূর্ত ছিল যখন ট্রেন মহাশক্তিশালী মেঘনা নদী অতিক্রম করছিল। সোনালি রোদে ঝলমল করা অসীম জলরাশি, যার মাঝে ছড়িয়ে রয়েছে মাছ ধরার নৌকা, যেন চলন্ত এক চিত্রকর্ম। রেললাইনের চাকার ছন্দময় শব্দ আর শিসের সাথে বয়ে চলা হাওয়ার সুর ভ্রমণকে এক বিশেষ সঙ্গীতে রূপ দিয়েছিল।
যাত্রার পুরো সময় আমি ভাবছিলাম, কীভাবে ভ্রমণ মানুষ, প্রাকৃতিক দৃশ্য আর অনুভূতিকে এমনভাবে যুক্ত করে যা অন্য কোনো অভিজ্ঞতা পারে না। প্রায় সাত ঘণ্টা পরে আমরা সিলেট রেলস্টেশনে পৌঁছালাম। এই ভ্রমণ ছিল শুধু একটি গন্তব্যে পৌঁছানোর উপায় নয়—এটি ছিল অভিজ্ঞতা, সৌন্দর্য ও নীরব চিন্তার এক অধ্যায়, যা আমি সারাজীবন মনে রাখব।
